About Logbook
A backup, index and search layer for aircraft maintenance records. Your scanned logbook pages are kept exactly as scanned, read by AI, confirmed by a person, and compiled into a bookmarked records package and a searchable transcript.
Keep your original logbooks. This service is a backup and an index. It is not your system of record, and it does not take over your responsibility for the aircraft's maintenance records.
What this is, and what it is not
It is: a durable second copy of your records, an index that makes twenty years of handwriting searchable, and a way to hand a complete, navigable records package to a buyer, an insurer, or an IA.
It is not: a replacement for your logbooks, an airworthiness determination, or a compliance service. Nothing here signs anything. A mechanic's signature in the aircraft's records is what makes an entry an entry, and that remains true whether or not the page is also stored here.
Why we insist you keep the originals
Under the federal aviation regulations the owner or operator is responsible for keeping the aircraft's maintenance records, producing them when required, and transferring them with the aircraft when it is sold. That responsibility is not something a vendor can assume on your behalf, and we do not claim to. Keeping your originals means that if this service is unavailable, discontinued, or simply not something you want to use any more, your records are unaffected.
This is a description of how we position the service, not legal advice about your obligations. Your A&P/IA or an aviation attorney is the right source for that.
How your records are handled
Your scans are never altered
An uploaded file is stored byte-for-byte as you sent it. It is never re-encoded, downsampled, reordered, or deleted once its text has been read. Page images and extracted text are additions alongside the original, never replacements for it. The compiled records PDF is your actual pages, merged and bookmarked — not a reconstruction.
Nothing unreviewed enters your record
AI reads the pages; a person confirms every entry before it becomes part of the record. Where a reviewer corrects the AI, both readings are kept — what the model read and what the person decided it says. Where the owner requires it, a shop submits its work for approval rather than filing it directly.
Everything is traceable to a page
Every entry on the timeline links to the scan it came from, so no statement in this system is more than a click from the page that supports it. Every upload, correction, approval, download and access change is recorded in an audit log.
Your data, and getting it out
There is no lock-in, by design. Everything you put in can be taken out at any time, in standard formats, without asking us.
- Compiled records PDF — your original pages, bookmarked. A standard PDF that opens in anything.
- Text transcript PDF — every event and the full text of every page.
- Event index CSV — the maintenance history as a spreadsheet.
- Your original uploads — available unchanged.
These are ordinary files in ordinary formats. Nothing about them requires this service to remain in existence in order to be readable.
If this service ever shuts down
We will give at least 90 days' notice before discontinuing the service, during which every export above remains available. Because you keep your original logbooks, a shutdown costs you the index and the convenience — not the records.
How long we keep things
- While your account is active, your records are retained.
- If you cancel or delete an aircraft, its records are retained for 90 days so a mistake can be undone, then permanently deleted.
- Deleting an aircraft deletes its scans, extracted text, compiled documents and attachments. The audit log of who did what is retained without the record contents.
- Backups are retained on a rolling basis and expire on their own schedule; a deletion propagates through them as they cycle.
Who can see your records
Access is per aircraft, by PIN. An owner PIN grants full control; a maintainer PIN lets a shop upload and file work. Owners can see everyone who has access, revoke a shop at any time, and rotate either PIN. An account with no grant on an aircraft cannot see that the aircraft exists.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your maintenance records to train models.
Limits of what we promise
AI reads handwriting well but not perfectly, which is exactly why a person confirms every entry before it counts. We do not warrant that the extracted text is complete or accurate, and the transcript explicitly states that where it and a scanned page disagree, the page governs.
We provide a records tool. Airworthiness determinations, logbook entries and signatures are the responsibility of the certificated mechanic or repair station making them. Compliance with your recordkeeping obligations remains yours.
